I get asked all of the time about traffic generation.
Whether it's someone I have recently met or one of my members or subscribers. By far one of the most popular questions is about traffic.
Usually it goes something like this "Gareth the traffic source I am using doesn't work. It just doesn't convert for my offer, in my niche. Can you teach me another way to drive better quality traffic?"
To which dependent on who is asking will determine my response.
I will normally teach the person who obviously wants to learn and has a hunger to succeed a new traffic source.
In a matter of weeks I know they will be back to complain that the new traffic strategy doesn't work for them either. This is a very valuable lesson. It teaches them if they will listen that no strategy will ever work for them.
Now of course I do this on purpose. The traffic source works. I use it, my students use it and thousands of other internet marketers also use it to generate hordes of targeted traffic that converts.
So what's the problem?
The problem is twofold.
1. People think a traffic source doesn't work if they don't get thousands of new subscribers.
2. People are impatient and predominantly lazy.
People want quick fixes. They want results yesterday. They definitely don't want to work for them.
The internet marketers who make this industry out to be a get rich quick scheme have a lot to answer for.
People come into this industry thinking they will become successful overnight. That it's easy to make great money online.
What the glitzy promotion videos don't show (if they are real at all). Is the hours of work that they have had to put in behind the scenes to be able to send a simple email and earn thousands of dollars. I love internet marketing and earn a good living from it. But I still put the hours in.
So what is the answer to your traffic problems?
Well it isn't really a problem.
Think of Internet marketing as a real business. Because it is.
Where do your potential customers hang out? Find out and that's where you want to be advertising and becoming known.
Add value and become helpful.
More than anything else, chose a traffic strategy and stick to it. People try a strategy for five minutes decide it doesn't work and move onto the next thing.
You have to literally stick with the method you chose until it works. You need to be determined to make it work.
When I put my first video on YouTube, I got 9 views and 1 new subscriber from it. Did I think, well that was a complete waste of time? No. I adjusted, made my next one better and committed to recording a new video every day.
Every day for a whole month.
That's 30 new videos. All mini, free adverts for what I teach and the methods I use in Internet marketing. By the 30th video do you think I was still only getting one new subscriber and 9 views? No I wasn't I started getting hundreds of views and 30 plus new subscribers per video.
Now for 30-40 minutes work per day, I can get anywhere from 50-100 new subscribers dependent on the video subject.
Master a strategy and then you can move onto the next one.
